Nani Lou’s Buttermilk Pound Cake

Looking for a holiday dessert? Look no further, we've got you covered!

1 C. butter

3 C. sugar

4 eggs

3 C. flour

1/4 tsp. baking soda

1 C. buttermilk

1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.

Combine flour and baking soda. Add the dry ingredients a little at a time (flour/baking soda mixture), alternating with the buttermilk to the butter and sugar, mixing as you go until all added. Then add vanilla.

Butter and flour your pan (my mom always used a bundt pan for this cake) and add cake mixture to the pan. Bake at 325 for about an hour. Check for doneness by poking with a toothpick to make sure the inside is done.

If you make it in a bundt pan, let it cook when you take it out and turn over onto a plate. Sometimes, my mom would sprinkle a little powdered sugar over it.

P.S. My mom was never exact when she cooked so that's why it says, "for about an hour".

This is the best cake I have ever had and I don't really like cake! I hope you enjoy it! My favorite way to eat it was to take a slice and toast it and put some butter on it. Yum!
